Blog One
I got excited this summer of ‘23 when a few new friends asked me, “where can I read your writing?!” Where indeed?
It’s long past time for me to have a place for you to be able to read a blog or a story from me. I got you! And I think I am most excited about no longer having a desire to teach or to try and “be a leader.” One of my mentors and someone I look up to, Dr. Kimberly Douglass, reminds me that “we can’t call ourselves ‘leader.’ We can only be called a leader by the people who are and feel lead by us.” YES. I’m not here to lead anyone. I’m just another person in the cogs of white-patriarchal-capitalism trying to live my own life and honor who I truly am. I’m sure you can relate ;)
For now, I’m going to put up some stuff I designed with pretty colors which I made especially with queer, neurodiverse people in mind. I started designing shoes and clothes that I wish I could find in stores when I go (clearance 😅) shopping. If you’re looking to add more rainbows - and especially earthy-toned rainbows - to your style collection, then please check out my new store!
I’m working on writing my first book, a period piece about a American woman who decides to be a Spinster in the 1880s. I don’t wanna give away too much just yet, but I’m excited to write about her ah-ha’s as she leaves her rural home and moves to a big city, begins to understand the systemic racism built in to our country, and how she will challenge herself and her fellow Spinster roommates to get politically involved… or how she will instead decide to stay in her comfort bubble and justify her lack of action. 👀
